It seems like forever since you have gotten away. The pressures of work have been almost unbearable over the last few months. Suddenly, however, there seems to be a break in the monotony. Much to your glee, you can see the way clear to get out of town for a few days on a ski trip.

Oakley Crowbar Snow custom goggles. Can’t decide which tint to get on the lens?

Nov-29-2009 Posted under Goggles Snow

I have made up some custom Crowbar Snow goggles on oakley.com BUT I’m having some trouble deciding which lens would be best. I will be doing alot of daytime AND night time boarding (the hills are still quite bright with all the lights) so I don’t want a very dark lens but I also have bright blue eyes so they are sensitive to light. I am almost leaning towards the VR50 Emerald lenses but they seem almost clear… It doesn’t even state VR50 Emerald Iridium. It just says "VR50 Emerald". Maybe they just ran out of room? Do they have a VR50 Emerald WITHOUT iridium or only with? How easily would someone be able to see my eyes through the VR50 Emerald lens in the daytime? I am mostly just looking at iridium lenses but there’s only a select few when making the custom goggles for some reason. The choices are:

Black Iridium
Blue Iridium
Clear
Fire Iridium
G30
Gold Iridium
HI Intensity Persimmon
HI Intensity Yellow
Persimmon
Pink Iridium
VR28
VR28 Black Iridium
VR50 Emerald (Iridium?)

If anyone has had any personal experience with these lenses in various lighting conditions it’d help me out lots if you could share what you think of them. Thanks.

I personally would choose Gold Iridium everytime as they enhance your view eradicating any shadows etc. They are what are used by the World Cup Ski racers so they must be good.

What is the closest sport to skiing?

Nov-29-2009 Posted under Winter Sports Skiing

I live in Tucson. We have no snow. There is snow in the mountains during winter but its not very good snow. So I ask you all, what is the sport that is closest to skiing that I can do In flat Tucson, Arizona?
Unfortunately I don’t have very good access to ice

I would say because you also need to pull some G’s to get anywhere like the sensation of snow skiing, it would only be water sport’s such as water ski or surf’s up dude or dude’tte.

What are considered cool ski goggles?
