Online Travel Insurance Comparison Makes Purchasing Simpler

Mar-8-2010 Posted under Winter Sports Skiing

As the summer holiday season approaches, you’ll want to start thinking about your holiday plans in detail. You might have already picked your holiday destination of choice, booked your flights and secured your accommodation – but have you really covered every possible aspect of your holiday plans? The chances are you haven’t yet thought about travel insurance, especially if your holiday is still a couple of months away. However, the earlier you think about buying travel insurance, the better; and buying travel insurance online is sure to help you find the most appropriate holiday cover.

Traditionally, travellers would buy insurance on the high street or via a travel agent. But the widespread proliferation of the internet in recent years means that online travel insurance sites – run by travel agents, large insurance companies and independents – have shot up in number. Buying your travel insurance online holds a number of advantages for the consumer – not least the fact that you’ll be able to think about which travel insurance option is right for you without being pressured by salespeople.

Browse any online travel insurance provider’s site and you’ll be able to compare benefits to see which policy is best for you. For instance, if you’re planning a week’s trip to Paris to sample some of France’s best art museums, galleries, and to get a taste of fine French dining, it’s unlikely you’ll need anything more than a basic travel insurance package. This will usually cover essential items, such as your passport, baggage, personal items and a limited amount of medical cover.

However, if you’re hoping to head off to the French Alps on a skiing holiday, you’ll need special winter sports cover. This will insure your expensive skiing or snowboarding equipment and, if it is a quality policy, it will protect you against any unexpected developments in your holiday, including avalanche closure, piste closure and even UK physiotherapy if you return from your holiday with an injury.

What’s more, if you opt for online travel insurance, you’ll find that your cover can insure more than just accidents and mishaps during your holiday. For instance, if you’re a scientist, journalist or researcher who’s travelling on an expedition to a dangerous region, or if you are visiting a Pacific Island at risk from volcanic eruption, or if you’re a businessman and you want to protect your business documents and samples from being lost or stolen.

With such a wide variety of concerns to think about on your holiday, it’s important that you consider your options carefully before you choose which travel insurance policy is right for you. Buying your travel insurance online allows you to do this in comfort and with ease – so why delay any longer! Get your holiday cover online and set your mind at ease.

What’s up with the pine plants on a ski jumping hill?

Mar-8-2010 Posted under Winter Sports Skiing

I love winter sports and notice that all ski jumping hills have little pine plants visible through the snow in the landing area. I was wondering if those serve a functional purpose, such as slowing the skier down. They seem to be on every hill so it seems more than just a matter of coincidence.

They are the distance markers.

Why isn’t dog sledding considered an Olympic event?

Mar-7-2010 Posted under Winter Sports Skiing

Generally the winter games exhibit all manner of sports conducive to winter. Skiing, skating, curling, etc. Has dog sledding ever been considered as a possible Olympic event?
I am sure the animal rights periphery will also have something to say with regard to this.

Hmm, a very good question.. It seems that dog sledding would be a good Olympic sport.

Buy Bansko Apartment: The Definitive Guide to Your Dream Home

Mar-6-2010 Posted under Winter Sports Skiing

Once a stock breeding and merchant town that attracted the sometime straggler, Bansko has evolved into a winter and summer destination that has rivalled, surpassed and set the standard for its resort style edifices and breath taking views. Built on new foundation of investment and development dollars from contractor giants like Yulen (responsible for the large ski resorts), the town and its surrounding village now sports modern facilities, famous jazz festivals, sweltering natural thermal springs in nearby Banya and a world class air port in the works. Skiing is the prime activity for most holiday makers here, the gondola at popular ski slopes like Todorka (Pirin Mountain) are kept busy throughout the four months of snowfall – way longer than most of the slopes in and around France and Italy. This is a right time to buy Bansko apartment as a getaway or an investment, with a picturesque view, a calendar year that never dulls and a quaint Bulgarian lifestyle amidst the hubbub of resort life – it is the definitive dream home.

The market maturity of Bansko property is literally amazing – sired by high demands and good development. The figures speak for themselves, with a tenfold increase in property prices in recent times from five to fifty Euros a square meter. Property and real estate agents online and in Bansko like International Dreams and Concept Bulgaria Property still tout the overall affordability of homes and property in the shadow of the Pirin Mountain, three times less expensive than similar ski resort or equivalent property in other parts of Europe. The choices that anyone has are endless, especially if seekers are looking to buy an apartment in Bansko itself. You can even be adventurous and acquire splendid living quarters with oceanic views or even city side apartments in Regina Mare, Saint Nicholas or the busy Sofia City – which features the airport you will probably land in. But is ski resort like is for you then names that will pop up are premium apartments in and around Mountain Paradise, Severina, Orbus or even near the high end Imperial Golf Club, tucked away neatly in the shadow of some of the most beautiful mountain ranges.

Resale apartments are also a good feature of Bansko, and the apartments will literally take your breath away by two things – its ridiculously low prices and the list of amenities. A list of typical facilities include a Jacuzzi, personalised English speaking concierge, sauna, restaurants, gyms, medical centres, personalised chauffer services. While you can’t deny that they are used as a draw to get buyers in – but what a draw. Even resale apartments have a no limit lease and a ten year insurance policy which is renewable.

Buy Bansko apartment and you are buying a little piece of heaven. The horizons have no limits – with numerous villages and towns like Razlog, a beautiful river of Demianitsa or absorb every inch of their warring history by viewing the old war fortresses in Staroto Gradsishte. Mountain ranges, pure snow, a skiing experience like no other – whether you are retiring, investing in property or eager to call a place of your own in this scenic locale – you wont make a mistake in Bansko; watching the sun set across the three mountain ranges sitting in your Bansko apartment.
